Helping Writers to Rise and Thrive

Writing Play: Cook Up a Fantasy/Sci-Fi Story!

Sunday, March 24, 2024, 3-5 p.m. EST. Live via Zoom!
Nina Kiriki Hoffman
One Fabulous Session, $35. (Limited to 12 students)

Play with your imagination and conjure up a story with nationally acclaimed, Stoker Award- and Nebula Award-winning teacher and writer Nina Kiriki Hoffman in this one-session, two-hour workshop.

Says Nina: “We’ll start with cooking up three characters — a witch, a shape-shifter, and a monster. We’ll knead them into shape by writing scenes where they’re doing interesting things. We’ll season them with strange and stimulating settings. Then add a splash of plot, and get writing!”

The workshop will include writing exercises, rolls of the die, idea generators, discussion and more, supplying you with the seed of an exciting story by the session’s end!

Nina Kiriki Hoffman’s novels and young adult novels have been published by Avon, Ace, Atheneum, Pocket, Gold Key and Viking, and she has sold more than 350 short stories to magazines and anthologies. Nina won the Stoker Award from the Horror Writers of America for her novel The Thread that Binds the Bone, and the Nebula Award from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America for her short story “Trophy Wives.”
