Each week, we’ll examine the pieces that serve as building blocks in fantasy, science fiction and horror novels, and we’ll help them fit together better so you can construct the castle, future, or haunted house of your dreams. We’ll explore worldbuilding, characterization, plotting, genre, writing description, and other aspects crucial to writing in these genres.
This class works for newbies as well as those with works-in-progress. Writers may share 600-word sections each week for feedback.
Nina Kiriki Hoffman’s novels and young adult novels have been published by Avon, Ace, Atheneum, Pocket, Gold Key and Viking, and she has sold more than 400 short stories to magazines and anthologies. Nina has won the Stoker Award from the Horror Writers of America for her novel The Thread that Binds the Bone, and the Nebula Award from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America for her short story “Trophy Wives.”
