Helping Writers to Rise and Thrive

Working Title: Write a Winning Song

Wednesday evenings, 7-9 p.m., beginning Oct. 19
Andy "A.J." Gundell
6 weeks, $325. Limited to Six Students

In this workshop, 13-time Emmy Award-Winning songwriter Andy “A.J.” Gundell takes students new to songwriting step-by-step through the process of writing and selling a modern pop song. It doesn’t matter whether lyrics or chord progressions are your strength – A.J. meets you where you are and, over the weeks, helps you write a hook, verses for your chorus and a bridge.

In addition to working on your piece, A.J. explains the commercial side of the music business, covering everything from recording demos to digital workstations to licensing sites to polishing your pitch.
Students are encouraged to bring in an instrument, if they have one. Each six-week session culminates in a showcase highlighting new songs.

A.J. Gundell is a musician, composer, songwriter, teacher, producer and publisher. He has won three Emmy awards for Outstanding Original Song, and others for work as a composer, audio post sound design and production, and as a music director/supervisor in the category of Music Direction and Composition. His work has been featured on ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, Fox, ESPN, MTV, NBA-TV, HBO, Disney, Discovery and more.

He is the CEO of Future Hits, which has supplied more than a thousand cuts in film, TV, advertising and on the Web over the last 10 years. A.J. performs with the band The Helium Brothers. See his bio here.
