Helping Writers to Rise and Thrive

Songwriting Camp for Teens

July 11, 12, 13, 14
Andy "A.J." Gundell
6:30-9:30 p.m. $295

Note: This is for teenaged participants.

Whether you’re in a band or just have a song in your head or your heart, 13-time Emmy-Award-winning songwriter Andy “A.J.” Gundell can help you get your own song on the page. In this four-evening camp, A.J. takes students new to songwriting step-by-step through the process of writing a modern pop song. It doesn’t matter whether lyrics or chord progressions are your strength – A.J. meets you where you are and, during the week, helps you write a hook, verses for your chorus and a bridge.

While it is not a requirement, students are encouraged to bring in an instrument, if they have one, and to work on their songs at the studio. The four-session workshop culminates in a showcase highlighting new songs.

A.J. Gundell is a musician, composer, songwriter, teacher, producer and publisher. He has won three Emmy awards for Outstanding Original Score, and others for work as a composer, audio post sound design and production, and as a music director/supervisor in the category of Music Direction and Composition. His work has been featured on ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, Fox, ESPN, MTV, NBA-TV, HBO, Disney, Discovery and more.

He is the CEO of Future Hits, which has supplied more than a thousand cuts in film, TV, advertising and on the Web over the last 10 years. A.J. performs with the band The Helium Brothers. See his bio here.
