Your wacky family, your kooky colleagues, your circle of friends, your own experiences and observations, or just your imagination can all fuel the characters, themes and stories on the stage or the screen. But how do you actually go from idea to script or screenplay?
This workshop will show you how.
Led by acclaimed indie series writer/producer Jason Cicci, you’ll create a logline for your project; craft your cast of characters; learn how to create insightful, informative dialogue; map out storylines; determine tone; even begin a series “bible” for one season or beyond. You’ll learn how to format your script to make it producible. By the session’s end, you’ll be ready to craft a pilot or get deeper into your screenplay!
Jason is the writer and producer of the award-winning popular web series “He’s With Me.” His series “Cady Did,” starring Tony Award-winner Cady Huffman, was nominated for 12 Indie Series Awards, winning five, including Best Comedy Series. He is also the writer/producer of the award-winning indie series “Searching for Sylvie.”
Jason’s onscreen works include “A Conversational Place,” which won Best Screenplay, as well as the shorts “Superfriends,” “New Year’s Eve at Sunny’s,” “The Whisperer,” “Lipstick Ladies” and “Relatable Joy.”
Note: For this class, participants do not need to own a copy of Final Draft, though it’s great if you have it.
