Helping Writers to Rise and Thrive

For Teens: Creating for the Stage and Screen

Mondays, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Begins Oct. 19, 2026
Jason Cicci
Eight weeks, $395, Limited to Six Participants.

Whether you’d like to kick-start a scriptwriting career or simply want to experience the process of creating stories for the stage and screen, this 8-part workshop—exclusively for teens—is for you.

With award-winning producer, writer, and teaching artist Jason Cicci as your guide, you will learn what it takes to craft a stage or film script. You’ll create a logline, dive into dialogue, create conflict and character arcs, nail down your three acts and plot points, figure out stage directions and learn how to format it all on the page. (The playwrighting/screenwriting software Final Draft may be helpful, but is not a requirement for this course.)

The goal of this interactive, hands-on workshop is to write a short stage or film script based on personal experience or any idea you’ve wanted to develop but didn’t know how to organize. In the final session, the scripts will be read aloud for family, friends and supporters.

Jason Cicci, has written for the stage and screen for decades. His streaming series “Cady Did,” starring Tony winner Cady Huffman, was awarded Best Indie Comedy Series; his streaming series “He’s With Me,” was featured by the New York Times; his podcast, “Make Your Show: The Creators,” explores the creative process with acclaimed actors, producers and storytellers. You can read more about Jason here.

In addition to all this awesomeness, Jason is a smart, caring, respectful and experienced teacher, eager to share his passion for storytelling—whether on the stage or screen—and to work with aspiring writers of all ages.

This workshop takes place in-person.

We strive to create a peaceful sanctuary for writers. This workshop is best suited for teens who are comfortable in a quiet environment and can independently and consistently maintain a low-noise level.
