Helping Writers to Rise and Thrive

Five-Minute Flix: Writing the Short Film Script

Wednesdays, 12:30-2:30 p.m. EST. Begins April 3, 2024. (In-person and on Zoom)
Jason Cicci
Seven weeks, $395, Limited to Six Participants.

Whether you’d like to kick-start your screenwriting career, bedazzle your buddies with your movie-making prowess or simply learn a new skill, this workshop is for you!

With award-winning producer and writer Jason Cicci as your guide, you will learn what it takes to craft a movie-worthy script. You’ll create a logline, dive into dialogue, create conflict and character arcs, nail down your three acts and plot points, figure out stage directions and learn how to format it all on the page. (The screenwriting software Final Draft may be helpful, but is not a requirement for this course.)

The goal of this interactive, hands-on workshop, is to have written a script for a five-minute film, producible by iPhone or by Hollywood. (After taking this workshop, students may enroll in Five-Minute Flix 2: Making a Short Film with Your iPhone.)

Your teacher, Jason Cicci, has written for the stage and screen. His streaming series “Cady Did,” starring Tony winner Cady Huffman, was recently awarded Best Indie Comedy Series; his streaming series “He’s With Me,” was featured by the New York Times; his podcast, “Make Your Show: The Creators,” explores the creative process with acclaimed actors, producers and storytellers. You can read more about Jason here.

In addition to all this awesomeness, Jason is a smart, caring, respectful and experienced teacher, eager to share his passion for movies and movie-making with aspiring and established writers.

You may attend this workshop in-person and/or on Zoom. Your choice!
