Helping Writers to Rise and Thrive

Creative Writing: Craft Class

Thursdays, 12:30-2:30 p.m., Begins May 30, 2024
Carol Dannhauser
Seven weeks, $395, Limited to Six Participants

This generative craft workshop explores the key elements of strong writing and storytelling, whether fiction or non-fiction, regardless of genre.

Each week, we explore different aspects of creative writing, including developing compelling protagonists, exploring different points of view, experimenting with different writing forms, creating compelling scenes and more. You will leave each class with an assignment designed to elicit a new piece of writing. (You do not have to do it, and you may bring in a work already in progress.) As you workshop your pieces, you will receive direction, tools, tips and techniques from the instructor, as well as feedback from your workshopmates.

The goal is to help you generate good writing, to become a more nimble writer, to help you find and develop your voice, and to provide you with more and sharper tools to bring to the table when you write. You’ll feel energized!

Over the years, this workshop has helped generate published flash fiction, short memoir, creative non-fiction, poems, essays and Pushcart-nominated short stories, and has sparked numerous novels. It’s the ultimate writers’ workshop!

Writers from all genres are welcome. Limited to six participants.

The instructor, Carol Dannhauser, has a closet full of awards for her writing, including magazine, newspaper, television, memoir and short-fiction writing. She is the author of four books of non-fiction and the editor of many more. She was named a Master Teaching Artist (writing) by the Connecticut Commission on the Arts and has taught writers across genres for more than 20 years. She is the co-founder of the Fairfield County Writers’ Studio.

This workshop can be taken in-person at the Fairfield County Writers’ Studio in Fairfield, CT, or on Zoom. Your choice!
